Play The Strip Photo Quiz!

Posted by Hunter

We've just launched the Las Vegas Strip Photo Quiz. You can reach the quiz here:

It is a simple but fun photo matching game that you can use to test your knowledge of Las Vegas Strip architecture and geography. The highest scorers will be displayed on a special page.

Over time we will be swapping the photos out, so this will remain fresh.

This thing was put together very quickly but I think it's a lot of fun and I hope you enjoy it. Don't worry if you have a hard time with some of them - it is supposed to be a challenge!

When I saw that Mandalay and THEhotel were listed seperately, I knew what was going to come up. And yet despite looking at my photos of both and counting windows very carefully, I still guessed wrong.

There were two other total guesses, one I wound up right and the other was the last one and I was wrong. I didn't think (ahem) would have that kind of deterioration in sight.

What are people's strategies here? Are you guys actually comparing photos from the archives? John, tell us your secrets...

I just did it to my best recollection, but how the heck could I have not guessed Excalibur when it was so obvious?

That was fun. I just can't believe some people got 100%. A few of those were just almost impossible, like the stupid DO NOT ENTER, and the Roof Stairway access!

Thanks for playing, guys.

No doubt it is hard. For 'Do Not Enter', you'd have to know The Mirage font (it's on the tram to TI). No question a hard one. I didn't think the Bellagio 'Roof Access' sign was that hard but maybe I'm wrong. That's in the parking garage and I like the photo since it is a bit weathered. Looks cool.

My 100% doesn't count since I posted the photos. I had to test it though... The other folks that got 100% - congrats! Not easy at all.

Next time I might try to make it a little easier. I just didn't know how this would work and I didn't want to make it too easy.

If I ever got 100% I'd probably think that I'm going to gamble too much, so I don't really mind. ;)

Yea I only got 40% and felt confident in it. The MGM Ticket Counter screwed me up. Working at the Bellagio before even I was surprized they had such a dingy sign - but knowing their scheme I couldn't think it wasn't their sign.

Some of those were fairly difficult. I thought the deteriorated roof sign was from MGM. I never would have expected it to be at Bellagio. I should have done better though. I walked the strip 2-3 times a week last year when I was at UNLV.

Mike, I guess I'm the Rain Man of the Strip Photo Quiz. Honestly, I really didn't have any strategy, I guess I've just either looked through the photo archives, way too many times, or I've just spent way too much time in the city. The one photo, that I thought I got wrong was the ducks. I though they could have been at Mandalay Bay, but as soon as I thought of that, I immediately thought of The Mirage, and the stories about the ducks. But, honestly, I just thought it was a really fun game and I didn't really find it difficult.

Hey guys! "Spoilers!" C'mon!

(That said, mike, you counted windows and still....? ;-)

January 25, 2007 12:56 AM Posted by motoman "spoilers," I meant that you guys are providing spoilers for those that haven't taken the quiz yet. Sorry if that wasn't clear.
