Casino Design Photo of the Week: Tropicana Las Vegas

Posted by Hunter

This week we've got the Trop. This is a shot of the partially renovated casino - it's actually pretty remarkable - the place is much brighter and nicer looking in the parts that have been re-done. If you haven't visited the Trop lately, I'd recommend checking it out.

I have mixed feeling about the rennovations. It will be a nice mid-level property, but it also still lacks a top notch show, club, bar, restaurant, spa, or hi-limit room. Without some of those things, I have a hard time convincing myself to stay there. I'm hoping the mob experience turns into a must see attraction.

My fiance and I stayed at the Trop for a week at the start of June, and we were very impressed with all of the changes. It was amazing to see the difference between the old spaces and the new spaces, it was quite the transformation, and I don't think the photos do it any justice. We had never stayed at the Trop before, just would quickly go in and out to get a Long Island at Lucky's Bar (we have quite a collection of those bamboo shaped glasses), but I am happy to say we did. The room's weren't exactly top notch, but def. a step up from some other strip properties. I think this makeover gives the Trop a great future, and hopefully we will see a new tower or two come online within the next 10 years (plenty of space for redevelopment). I still can't believe how much has changed since June, can't wait to check it out when phase 1 is complete.

Did anyone see the new rendering of the Tiffany casino pit that was posted on the Trop's FB page? The Tiffany glass will be replaced with a cream and tan replacement with a tropical leaf design. Several light fixtures like the new ones all over the casino will be added above the table games. I believe Mark has it posted on VT&T now.

I love the mix from the old ballroom to the modern hall with LED lighting. We have found that LED lighting can be very effective and powerful. The color changing LED lighting system has helped us create many different looks and feeling in the same room.
