In a city in which I thought I had seen it all, the decor of Alex still managed to make me gasp. The muted elegance just takes your breath away. I’m not a wine drinker, but perusing the wine menu had me gasping for breath as well since it topped out at $20k per bottle! I felt that the sea bass was bland, the only lapse I experienced with my food, and given the price of dinner, frankly it was inexcusable. But considering the overall experience—visual, service and culinary, I could not bring myself to complain. I’ll be celebrating 25 years of marriage in a few weeks, and with Picasso closed on Tuesday, the venue for our dinner celebration was a no-brainer. Can’t wait to go back. If you’ve got a refined palate and the bucks to cater to it, don’t hesitate to come here—just pass on the sea bass. It’s one of the finest tables in what has become a culinary mecca.

A party of 6 dined the first week in October 2006.
Ambiance excellent. The staff was very attentive with excellent pacing to the meal. The extra mini courses were well prepared and presented.
The wine list of course is extensive and extremely expensive. A red wine under $100 is essentially nonexistent.
Several wines with which I was familiar are marked up 300 to 400% over retail but I assume this is normal for Las Vegas.
My ravioli appetizer was cool and apparently had been sitting in the sauce for some time before being served.
My lamb entrée was a disappointing cut of meat extremely fatty.
For the money a quite disappointing evening.

Alex is the best restaurant that I’ve been to. There is no word to describe how fine the food was. Every single dish was perfection, in taste and presentation. There is no way anyone would not come out of that place without remembering and savoring every dish. A true foodie’s paradise, the dishes are served in small portions so you can sample different dishes throughout the meal. It’s almost like dimsum but even better.

A wonderful experience on all levels. My husband and I were there the 2nd week the Wynn was open. The service and food were both superb. The staff treated everyone with the same great attention and respect from the most experienced upsacle diner to the total newbies. It’s expensive, but worth every penny.

The dining experience of Alex was the best I’ve ever had, bar none. Stratta’s old world style cuisine touches the soul in ways no other food can. It’s worth every penny. The dramatic decor of the restaurant, from the sweeping drapery to the lush foliage outside, makes dining at Alex incredibly intimate and comforting. In addition, the awe inspiring service never ceased to impress; my date received a minature chair to place her purse upon. Eat there.

The room and meal was awesome. Alex Stratta, formerly of Renoir at the Mirage, has done it again.
