This has been a bi-polar property for us. It seems every time we are impressed with something, a catastrophe happens to discourage us from spending anymore time there. Home to some amazingly good and bad food as well as service. I still see the potential so I'm not ready to write it off but I'm not ready to commit a week to it. Quality pool and the adults only version isn't topless, its just only for adults. No kids allowed. We will be back...with another MyVegas comp, both for the room as well as monorail. The latter makes the location far more appealing.

Just got back from a stay in a Tower One Bedroom Suite. At check in I was told that they where going to put a $200 deposit on my credit card in case I "thrashed the room" and it "had a mini-bar." No where did it say that when I reserved the room or in the emails I received from them. I spoke with the manager and showed him what I had. He then just took an imprint of the card for $100.00. If you use a debit card they will charge you $300. The mini-bar consisted of a small refrigerator that was already stocked with expensive items. If I wanted to put anything in it I would have to take out items and then be charged a $50 restocking fee. Or I could rent one for $25 a day. The rooms do not have enough light in them. There is no light at all over the dining table. The lights in the bedroom are the same. And the light on the desk is just as dim. For the $25 a day resort fee you get only 512k speed in the wireless internet. If you want 1.5megs you have to pay $14.95 for 38 hours. I can get way faster speeds at home from a Days Inn and not be charged for it. Never did get the wired internet to work. My room was on the 8th floor (they where only 60% booked supposedly and where not cleaning higher floors according to check in) and I could hear the trash trucks, deliveries, etc at all hours of the night. There was even a light switch near the door that worked nothing at all. And sockets covered up all over the room. And to raise and lower the shade and black out shade (it is called a curtain in the room description on the website) you have to walk across a dark room to find it. No switch by the door to the bedroom from the main room. Just at the door to the hallway. The bed was comfortable tho. But it seems that they want you out of the room and spending money then relaxing. Just be prepared for all the fees, etc that they will charge you.

MGM has always been a great hotel but I hope the management help support the Lion Habitat as they have four new cubs maybe tours from the hotel would be a great idea

Third stay at the jolly green giant...had a Penthouse City View room, gorgeous. Huge living space with wet bar and dining table. Giant master suite with a very comfy bed, walkin closet, and amazing bathroom. Huge windows in both bedroom and living room. MGM doesn't have the best views, but mine was decent, over the roof of the Mansion and across to NYNY and Monte Carlo. Room was right off elevator core, but bedroom was quiet. Room was smoking, but odor was barely noticeable. Pool area was great, though on Tuesday the Wet Republic crowd took over the lazy river and stood around in giant clumps. Annoying. MGM has great food choices, a lively casino, nice rooms, etc. Location is a slight negative for me, a center Strip guy. But still had a great time overall.

5 Stars KSP8 July 03, 2013

Stayed in updated King rooms... Very nice and spacious.. Elevator wait time is my only complaint but we were there on a sold out weekend

4 Stars Carol Miknenas May 31, 2013

We stayed in a 1 bed Skyview Terrace with connecting room and I was blown away by the stunning decor and the most breathtaking views from the terrace. It was so luxurious and my view from bedroom at night was beautiful with lights out and seeing the lights and colours of the Vegas strip and colourful distant hotels! The bathroom was stunning with a fancy steam shower and jacuzzi but jacuzzi did not work. The whole space was stunning with a high ceiling to ground floor chandelier which actually stopped lighting up on our last night. There were service issues with lights, jacuzzi, tv and air con. So although it was luxurious to the eye, it failed on service and function. We had a delicious breakfast and dinner on terrace with spectacular views and perfect outdoor temperatures being late April and it was a one off unique experience to see Vegas this way with those views. But though the helicopter tours passing by did not bother me, they were quite frequent and loud so its best to consider this before booking a 'relaxing' room! I found it fun and exciting but it may be noisy for most. I have been told the Skylofts are much better for service and use of space. Plus there were no tea or coffee making facilities in room which was surprising for such a luxurious space.

2 Stars Stuart Poyner May 06, 2013

Has a skyview terrace. So many service issues. Lights out, tv not working, jacuzzi not working etc. some fixed some not. Terrace was great for views and outdoor eating but it had no comfortable lounging chairs. Also soon realised we were on the flight path of the helicopter strip tours, so forget any idea of a peaceful relax on the terrace. Every 10 mins a helicopter flies past about 100 feet away.

The rooms at MGM Grand have been recently updated. They are beautiful, spacious & quiet

4 Stars Anthony C April 06, 2013

I checked in late on a Sunday night for a 4 night stay. Even though it was close to midnight there were still about 15 people in front of me at the Check In line, but it moved fast. I had booked an Executive Queen suite for me and a friend; I didn't try the $20 trick because I think this room is the largest you can get and still have two beds. The room was spacious, newly remodeled and spotless. It had a large sectional couch with a pull out bed, 2 TVs, and a very large bathroom. The bathroom had double sinks and a shower as well as a tub. Housekeeping did a great job the whole time. The room came to about $125 per night ( not including the $25 per night resort fee ). Over all I think it's a great value. The only downsides I would put again MGM Grand is the lack of easy " regular food ". With the closing of the cafe, it only leaves the food court to grab something quick. With as many restaurants as it has, every one now is like a famous chef fusion dining experience. Every hotel needs a 24 hour coffee shop to get coffee and eggs at 3:30 am. Also, it is very big. From your room, through the casino to the strip is an easy 10 minute walk, and even by my last day I was still making a wrong turn. But we had a wonderful time and I would highly recommend MGM Grand to anyone.

4 Stars Brendan Dentino March 15, 2013

There is something for everyone here. I thoroughly enjoy all the time I have been on the property, be it gambling, at the pools or in the room. Casinos always claim to be like a little city, but MGM truly is one - a well-run and fun city.

5 Stars Steve January 20, 2013

Loved our room!

5 Stars Stuart Poyner January 03, 2013

This is a review of the skylofts. OMG words fail me. Hands down the best room and service in vegas. In fact it would be hard to surpass this anywhere in the world. Impeccable staff. Well appointed room, with everything working perfectly. You have not lived until you have had an infinity bath jacuzzi! Room service consists of anything from the restaurants in the hotel. How can i live without my personal butler...i have been spoiled.

4 Stars Shiz Lee December 30, 2012

Definitely have improved in terms of room quality due to the renovation, but otherwise not as grand as I thought it would be. The pool scene in the summer is quite nice, though. Large number of pools to choose from. Much of my stay such as food&drink and even shows was comped through playing myVegas (an online game that can be played thru Facebook), thought I should let everyone know about this opportunity as it really helped me out diminish travel costs!

1 Star Joe bright December 17, 2012

Extremely disappointing, haven't stayed there in about ten years. Homeless guy sleeping by elevator near our room. Called front desk about it. He was still there in morning. Two times was solicited by prostitutes on casino floor. Room was okay. But nothing special for price. Much better places to stay for same money. Will not be back.

4 Stars kurt June 27, 2012

Great rooms, the casino was a bit hard to navigate, okay location on the strip. I would recommend anybody to stay here for an experience.

4 Stars Tim June 24, 2012

Always a pleasant experience at the MGM. They have enough variety to keep most everyone in a group interested. While they are not the flashiest or trendiest, they are a great, lower priced alternative. The newly renovated rooms are a welcomed update and are well appointed. The only knock I have against the MGM is there location, as I prefer more mid-strip.

4 Stars Cody May 19, 2012

Over all very happy with this hotel choice. The Grand literally has everything. Checkin was done at the airport satellite office. What?? Yeah, the airport. Smooth. Having a bit of status with the Mlife program the hotel was kind enough to provide limousine service to and from the hotel. Shout out to Bill the driver. His service was excellent. Stayed in the new one bedroom suite and found it to be very nice. Living area had good space but not really sure why there was a dresser under the tv when the bedroom had one as well. Minibar was nicely tucked away so you didn't hit anything by accident. The room could have used a separate fridge but other than that very nice. Bedroom was also a good size with a very comfy bed, a desk area for your laptop and another tv. Great closet space. Bathroom was large. Loved the double sinks. I felt the tub a bit small and the fact that it didn't jacuzzi was a bit disappointing. Casino floor was huge with a large selection of gaming to offer. The Star and Studio walks kept the amenities in one space allowing you to make choices without having to walk all over the place. Pool area is sick!!! All there is to say. Monorail made for easy access to the rest of the strip. Again very happy with everything and will happily return.

Awesome, just awesome!

5 Stars EMH April 19, 2012

Stayed last week, 3/21/12, for two days in a recently renovated room, was very nice. We usually stay at the Bellagio, and this room was nicer. Still prefer Bellagio's ambience and dining choices.

5 Stars Levi February 27, 2012

Simply awesome. The rooms have affordable prices, great on-hotel entertainment, and excellent restaurants with superb quality. The rooms feel slightly dated, but hey, you're not coming to Vegas to stay holed up in the hotel room all day.

5 Stars Marco January 17, 2012

I have been in LV 6 times and the last 3 were at the MGM Grand. Will be back again. Last time I was upgraded to a terrace suite (booked another smaller suite for 5 nights). That was awesome. The food is great. I especially like Emeril,s. The other restaurants are great too. Everytime when I am in LV I must eat there. I have seen Ka twice and everybody should see it. Last but not least I got comped too. They make me feel at home there.

2 Stars KJW December 30, 2011

Very disappointed with the "newer" west wing rooms. Very small.. Changed rooms to the grand tower.. Studio cafe was also a disappointment. This was my 5th time to stay at MGM and the only time I have not been impressed.

5 Stars Jodie December 15, 2011

Came from australia and stayed for 3 nights and found it great, the only negative is there is no chairs in the reception area. We will come back and stay here again.

3 Stars Corey Piche December 05, 2011

Very nice. A little to close to the airport. Noise was a problem.

5 Stars Sue Bunce November 15, 2011

I loved the MGM. I loved the fact it was so big I could see an ice hockey show. See a Circ show had the choice of 3 Starbucks , numerous restaurants and fast food outlets and all under one roof not to mention the huge casino We had a bungalow suite which was perfect and a good price. Will defiantly stay again

5 Stars Wes November 01, 2011

Awesome stay. Loved it. Pool a long walk but otherwise all good.

5 Stars Andy September 27, 2011

Stayed in the Bungalow Suite with the gf for 3 nights after using the $20 tip rule. This hotel is the best hotel I've ever stayed in. Impeccable service, loads to do and above all my favourite on the strip!!

4 Stars Pat September 18, 2011

Stayed there for 4 nights the rooms where clean n the view of the strip was nice. The hotel itself is huge took a day to figure out how to get around. I Would recommend this hotel to anyone.

4 Stars Chris July 31, 2011

I loved staying on the West Wing. You are steps away from the strip. The only downside to this is it's a long walk to the pool. The pool is great!!! I cant say enough about the service at this hotel.

5 Stars Salsa Sally June 07, 2011

Huge hotel! Get a map at check in. We stayed here for 4 nights, first night on the 8th floor was a bummer: Shower head had a crack in it which we tried angling it and shielded with the curtain, end result wet bathroom floor all over. The room was average like the Marriott. But next door to us was an angry couple feuding & swearing with a screaming infant: paper thin walls! The next night we arranged a room change and happily found the 13th floor (West Wing) to be a delight. These rooms are much better, huge tile shower and separate toilet stall, also tv built into bathroom mirror. We had a nice buffet brunch at MGM and the Starbucks are great too! The pool area was nice but drinks and food are pricey (yikes) Casino was cool but we ended up on Fremont Slots for some small winnings! I would def stay here again!

I was at the MGM Grand for my 40th birthday and prior to going I arranged a few things with an extremely helpful concierge. Small things like the resort fee being waived, a fridge in the room, things like that. Experience has shown that when dealing with a faceless person, its unlikely to happen. It happened. No problem at check in, and the fridge was waiting for us. The concierge also suggested and booked a great restaurant for us for my birthday, not in the MGM Grand so as well as being great at their job, impartial as well.

Anyway I am ahead of myself. Check in was problem free, we arrived at around 8pm on a Thursday night in Spetember. If you call a queue 1-2 people in front of us in line then you need to work on your patience. It was a quick check in, polite desk person, no issues with it at all. They were friendly and everything was as expected. They also supplied a map on how to get to the lift.

The room was a Grand Tower standard room and it was excellent, as everyone says the beds are the best you will experience at any hotel, they really are. Comfy, and the linen is great, the pillows soft. Fantastic. Also in the room you get a TV boasting the usual local US channels, nothing adventurous but it does the job for the early morning news. We had a fridge in our room, there is normally a charge for this. Also in the room is a desk, a place to put your change and receipts etc. The bathroom was a reasonable size, good size bath, plus shower etc. All in all the room was pretty good, some say a little tired, but not in the Ballys or Aladdin league. I didn’t think it was tired, I liked it.

The hotel itself is huge, ridiculously large. It has a few good bars, we found the staff at Rouge to be helpful, good company and the portions large. Prices were as per any hotel of this size and location. We didn’t really sample many other bars and nightclubs aren’t our thing.

All in all if I was to return to Vegas it would be to the MGM Grand, good rooms, great location, great bars.

3 Stars Goon29 October 29, 2010

Favorite overall place to stay in Vegas. Great location at the end of the monorail line and plenty of dining options both on the high and low end. Rooms are nice, although sometimes a bit dated. Many of the staff seem like they have been at the property for a while and have interesting stories to tell. Huge pool complex with lazy river. Only place in Vegas to play SIGMA DERBY!! Definitely a fun place to stay.

Gorgeous hotel! The Skylofts and restaurants are beyond exquisite.

3 Stars Paul September 05, 2010

Hotel unclean. Service not good. LOn checkout they debited my credit card with charges which the players club card had comped out. Not a hotel to stay in if you enjoy gambling. Worst hotel experience I have ever had in Las Vegas where hotels are usually among the best in the world. Take my advise & stay elsewhere.

Checked in about 11:30 Sunday it was late check in was realy fast no lines !! Room was clean we tiped $5.00 a day and always came back to a super clean room !! All staff. We dealt with was very nice and helpful!! Lazy river what a blast, we got there just about 10 am just opened no problem getting 2 chairs in the shade soooo much fun the only problem with this hotel was the smell realy bothered me and I smoke! I love MGM and have stayed here many times in the past but the smell and air in the casino is almost enough to not go back.

5 Stars Josh August 18, 2010

An incredible hotel! From the cuisine and the five star boutique hotel, MGM is one of the finest properties anywhere. Highly recommended.

1 Star Erik August 15, 2010

Saw concerts in the MGM grand arena, shows were both well done, however getting to the merchant tables is painful and getting out after a concert takes forever!!!!! Start leaving as soon as the encore starts or you'll be stuck for 45+min

4 Stars Erik August 15, 2010

Prompt service, really great waiters. Portion sizes are larger. Fried chicken was almost a whole chicken. Beer selection is average. Prices are good value for portion size. Chicken strips come with 6 strips fries and dipping sauce.

4 Stars Erin August 09, 2010

Always happy when I stay here...had a dab weekend again! The lazy river is the spot for the party animal 20 somethings! One complaint...upon checking out we had to wait 45 minutes for the bell hop, when he finally showed up he was very rude and actually asked us for a tip....no no no you get tipped for great service not for taking 45 minutes to arrive and then being a total douche when you get there!!! All in all, it was a wonderful weekend!

2 Stars Gregory T July 19, 2010

Overall, I have just not been impressed with the package here. The room hallways look like some horror movie action scene. The shower doors were loose and leaked water into the bathroom. A touch light turned on by itself in the middle of the night. 2 of 3 front desk persons were emotionless, and one of those was just helpless. The TV menu services button didn't work. And the slots here were stingy as $---. The best and only good feature of the MGM were the shows.

1 Star Leslie Tennyson July 12, 2010

Once again MGM proved to me why I no longer stay there. 16 people in line to check in and only two employees behind the counter. Waiting for 20 minutes is not the way to start your vacation

5 Stars JB July 06, 2010

Perfect stay at the MGM Grand!! Everyone was VERY nice, room was beautiful (we had the terrace suite which was a free upgrade upon arrival), pool complex was outstanding. Everything was perfect and I'll be an MGM Grand customer for life!

4 Stars Tami June 30, 2010

First stay at the MGM..overall, the casino and rooms are quite nice...it's the little things...or should I say, lots of little things, that made my stay less than what i expected..3 towels for a 4 person room...all 4 days...why should i have to call housekeeping everyday..they know there are 4 of us..computer system changes made the lines ridiculous..rude employees, room keys deactivated over 8 times during our stay...thats 8 extra trips to wait in line for a new key..wanted file a written complaint, but was not allowed at that time..bellboy actually ASKED for tip..
Expected more from this hotel..

5 Stars MS June 22, 2010

0 Stars Allen June 13, 2010

Just wanted to leave a comment about the sports book. I've stayed at the Grand previously and enjoyed the hotel. I also enjoy the gaming here. But this past trip was the first time I have tried out the Grand sports book. The result: very disappointing. For a hotel of this size, the book is small, oddly shaped, and has very mediocre seats. Worse, they charge for drinks. I wagered a few hundred dollars this evening, no drink tickets, and they wanted cash for any drink I ordered. Not a good experience

4 Stars Dodie June 07, 2010

Stayed in the west wing. Liked the location. Very quiet area. Pool was fun. Great value.

5 Stars Eddie May 12, 2010

4 Stars Hoganswinger May 12, 2010

Really good bloody marys. This casino is very nice & studio 54 was a blast.

4 Stars Kit Kitchens May 06, 2010

I loved everything about the MGM Grand. The only strike against it is how big it is, but when you have so many options like you have there, it's worth the walk. The dealers were great, and even remembering my name at the craps table on consecutive nights, which I found impressive considering how many folks they see. Of course, I went on a 27 hour bender there so we spent a lot of quality time together. Overall, you must go to Rouge, which is my favorite bar in Vegas, hands down.

2 Stars Vuong Pham May 05, 2010

meh.. average...

I tried the budget room: translation. Why spend a lot when you are just gonna use the room to crash, shower, sh*t and go. lol

I felt really cramped and econo-mode on..

4 Stars Austin April 28, 2010

This review is for the West Wing portion of the hotel. I was forewarned that the rooms are smaller than the standard deluxe rooms on the older side of MGM. Armed with that knowledge, I actually thought the room was nicely sized and situated. Felt like a HUGE room in any standard Manhattan hotel.

The West Wing is meant to be boutiquier and more modern than the rest of MGM's rooms, and to that end, I think it succeeded. However, the finishings are still a little bit raw, meaning chipped paint and broken fixtures, and we saw room service trays sitting out in the hall for over 24 hours.

With that said, though, I thought it was a fantastic way to experience an older hotel with a fresh perspective. The walk from the West Wing is not bad at all to get to the main casino, and there is a little side door in the West Wing bar that practically drops you off right on the Strip. Pretty cool.

One word of caution: the bathroom is a little awkward. There is no *solid* bathroom door to close when you are showering. Everything is frosted glass. So if you are traveling with a platonic companion, they will have to stay in the "bedroom" area if they don't want to catch a free show starring you.

5 Stars David E April 28, 2010

I'm giving the MGM Grand 5 stars. I know it's 17 years old. I know it's a big green monster. But so was the Hulk, and The Grand has its Bruce Banner side as well. The beds are like sleeping on a cloud. The A/C in the room doesn't turn off automatically overnight leaving your room slightly humid in the morning (cough*mirage*cough). The showers are great. The bathrooms are big and layed out well. The casino, quite literally, has something for everyone (it damn well better judging by its size). The food choices are all stellar, and the house coffee (from the cafe, from the drink waitresses, and at the buffet) is the best on the strip. Drinks are stiff and come often enough, even at 2am on a Sunday night. The pools are all spectacular with plenty of empty lounges, even on a saturday afternoon in late april in 90 degree heat. Stop complaining about a few nicks and scratches in the room furniture. Take a look at all the things that Kirk did right, and take advantage of the great rates available at this too often overlooked megaresort.

4 Stars Dale April 24, 2010

It's a nice hotel. Modern, clean. But nothing overly outstanding, except the pool! The rooms were adequate, but there is no refrigerator. TVs are old school CRT (not that you'll be watching a lot). It's huge!! Which means everything under one roof, but it also means lots of walking. The pool area is the stand out. It's massive and has several pools. If spending rime by the water is important to you, this the place to stay. Service is good. When our non smoking room smelled of smoke, they quickly found us a new one. Prepare to wait for concierge service. In the mornings you can easily wait for up to 1 hour.

3 Stars Pete April 21, 2010

Stayed in the West Wing. First the good than the bad.

Good: the location, very convenient to the strip, poker room and sports book. Bad: size of the room (very very small, luckily this was a solo trip), outdated (even though they are going for a modern look, in my opinion it already had an old feel to it).

Sportsbook is top notch. Had my first Pastrami and thought it was really good. Not something I would want everyday, but it was good. The walk to the monorail is a hike, but it was better than walking to center-strip.

Casino limits were mostly on the high end, no low low rolling here, but the atmosphere is fun, just what a Vegas casino should be. I did the check in at the airport and took their shuttle. Thought it was very convenient, but I wish I had checked in at the hotel, just so I could have gotten some better directions (this place is big).

4 Stars Eric April 13, 2010

Great hotel, great casino, awesome pool area. HUGE, be prepared to do lots of walking when you stay here. I would definitely return if I could get another good deal. I'd also consider staying in the West Wing sometime. (This was the former Marina Hotel, in the pre-MGM days.)

I know the rooms are smaller, the windows smaller, the views not as good, but I had a lousy view anyway. And it's nice that the WW elevators come down and let you right out of the building, practically on the Strip. Saves some walking.

4 Stars Caryn April 13, 2010

Stayed in a basic room, which was fine, nothing spectacular but you don't go to Vegas to hang out in your room. Lazy river was awesome but they close at 5 so don't plan it as your late afternoon event. Maid service was great and the food court was a life and money saver. Would go back and stay again for sure. Didn't have kids with us but seemed kid friendly.

Stayed at MGM 5 times in 2 years. Always a blast!!! Craftsteak the best food and service worth every penny. They have the best cocktail wait staff of all casino!!! Pool is great!! Room service is fast and realy tasty.stay away from studio cafe the food sucks way overpriced!!! If you want cheep food go to food court good pizza. The west wing rooms not an upgade, unless you like having no privecy when useing the bathroom and get a kick out of hearing your spouse poop, yes you read right. Standered rooms are just fine always clean.we love this place!! Going back soon!

I have stayed at MGM Grand 3 times over the past 5 years and I love the property. I know many people say the rooms need updating (and I agree) and the property is just way too big (which I also agree) but I have always enjoyed my time there. I think what sets it apart from other properties is the amazing pool. I absolutely love all the options you are given when you enter the pool area. Do i want to sit near the lazy river so i can just float around all day, do i want to just sit next to a pool to relax and catch some sun, do i want a big crowd or a bit of a more secluded area, do i want kids running around me or an adults only option. No matter what i want, they got. Even though i plan to stay elsewhere during my next trip, i absolutely still love the MGM Grand. The only negative which really bothers me is that the rooms do need upgrading. As for the size of the casino and property in general, i prefer the large size since it never seems overcrowded.

5 Stars Anthony April 04, 2010

The Skylofts at MGM Grand.. one word, WOW! Escorted in a Maybach, private entrance and elevators, I felt like a king. The staff was extremely kind and helpful. A little pricey, but you only live once.

5 Stars jaclyn April 04, 2010

We stayed at the MGM Grand in a West Wing room and could not have been more pleased. We checked in at the airport and took advantage of the roundtrip porter service for $12 per person. The clerk gave us a room that was ready by the time we arrived at the hotel at 10am and our luggage was already in the room by the time we got up there. There was no problem locating the West Wing as there was plenty of signage and two separate entrances (one is closer if you are taking the monorail, the other takes you from the strip through the West Wing bar). We stayed in an even-numbered room on the 12th floor so we had a view of part of the strip, but we were not interested in looking – we wanted to do! The room is urban-mod and it is clearly designed and marketed for the 25-35 year-old professional crowd. That is not to say if you don’t fit the demographic you won’t like it, but since we did, we loved it!

As has been described, when you walk into the room, a vanity sink with a TV in the mirror is on one side of the entryway, with 2 frosted green glass doors covering the commode and shower. A lot of folks complain the bathroom is not private, but really the vanity area is what is exposed, not the toilet or the shower. One person can doll up while to other is cleaning out and still preserve modesty.

The room’s focal point is the king-sized bed that makes you want to jump into it. The leather headboard matches the chair on one side which has it’s own tough lamp, and there is a small glass desk with a chair on the other side. The lights are controlled either by the switch on the entrance to the room or by the switches on either side of the headboard. The room has a flat screen TV with DVD and keyboard for web access and three drawers underneath, a nice sized closet with a safe and iron with ironing board, and daily refills of some great smelling toiletries. The room is very quiet and you can get the place pitch-black thanks to 2 sets of shades. The shower may spray water onto the floor, but there are plenty of towels to use as a bath mat.

We took advantage of a spa credit and received a duet massage, which was pleasant, but not memorable. The spa itself has a stream room, sauna, hot tub, and lounging area with a nice array of snacks. You get free access to the spa for a day if you book a treatment, which is a nice perk. We never did get to the pool but they looked inviting when we walked by them. The rates went down about a week before check-in, and when I called to get the additional discount, the clerk gave me an even lower rate than was advertised!

We bought 3-day monorail passes which were economical and convenient as there is a station in the hotel and it was easy access to all the places we wanted to go. There have been numerous complaints about the size of the hotel and walking, but frankly, I like the enormity. But I like to walk too.

If you are a young professional, the West Wing is a fabulous departure from the typical hotel room and I would recommend it to any couple or single who does not require lots of space. It is a quite corner of the hotel, rooms are non-smoking, and is a quick walk to the strip. Remember to take advantage of 2-4-1 drinks during happy hour at the West Wing Bar!

3 Stars Russell Sauve March 26, 2010

A perfectly acceptable casino resort. A gorgeous, calming and soothing spa. Enough different restaurants to satisy the pickiest eater. My favorite Vegas bar is There called Rouge. But bring your walking shoes, the place is huge and you can almost burn off lunch just walkng back to your room. Acceptable rooms, although they could never get the air conditioning to really wrk in my room. Studio 54 is overrated but I'm not a club guy. I like te staff but they can be a little stuffy. Great restaurant at Craftsteak

MGM is an enormous hotel. It was nice and clean and the staff was helpful. The pool is huge and the lazy river is the best on the strip. However, if you are older or have difficulty moving around, you may not like it here because of it's sheer size. It takes a while to get from your hotel room to any restaurant and forever to walk to the front door of the strip. Overall, a good place and if you want to stay under one roof, it's got it all.

4 Stars Dom & Denise October 28, 2009

Out time in the lobby started horribly but ended excellent. We went to the box office. It was their 1st day offering a new 3-pack attraction ticket. We got csi, titantic, & shark reef tickets for $54. A very good deal. EXCEPT it was the first day of sales & no one had a clue what they were supposed to do. It took over 45 minutes to get the tickets! I was furious. I asked to see the manager & she quickly comp'ed us amazing tickets to see Ka. After the ordeal we went to the lounge "Rouge" to get a badly needed drink. The bartender nearly spilt an entire 7&7 on my wife. Yikes! I give them high marks because although the service was a nightmare, their customer service was bar none.

I have stayed at the MGM 3 times in the last year 1/2. I normally like coming to the hotel but, I found my room had not been cleaned as well as they had done in the passed. The slots were the tightest I have ever seen them. I mean I never seen one person get any good money. Looking at the machines you usually at least see some good hits that people leave on the machines. I never seen one. I talked to other guests and they ALL said the same thing, the machines suck. I spent $500.00 in the casino and the highest payout I recieved was $20.00. I will be staying some where else next time.

My Wife and I always stay here. The place has everything, I'm not sure if any other hotel/casino has as much. BJ conditions are very good for a strip property. Numerous great restaurants and a great pool too. Monorail station at property. Regarding casino smell...I think MGM Grand smells the best (my opinion).

Stayed at MGM for the Madonna concert last November. Booked a Celebrity suite. Upon arrival was informed that the Celebrity suites were sold out and was given a standard Grand Tower room. The room was starting to show it's age. Tube TV, the sink was very slow to drain, not impressed when I book one room type and am given another. I understand that rooms are not guaranteed but to be downgraded from a suite to a regular room was not appreciated. I have stayed at MGM many times and will likely not stay there again after this room experience. Will definitely visit again for dining but that's all.

What a disaster! First thing a plugged shower leads to sewage being spewed all over the living room. The desk takes over an hour to locate a new room, then rushes us to get out. I have stayed at other MGM properties with much better service. Whomever manages their flagship hotel needs to instruct the staff on how to handle a situation where the plumber sprays waste in the guests room.

0 Stars Ted Wirth August 25, 2008

Keep your eyes on your money at Studio 54, when paying cash the bartenter will hand you money in one hand and leave the rest under your reciept under your drink. The punk thinks you won't want a reciept for the cash purchase and when you just take the drink....the weasel takes your cash.

I have recieved better treatment at the carnival.

0 Stars J.R. July 17, 2008

Stayed in one of the small suites for the first time. Wasn't that impressed. I've stayed in a West Wing room and regular Tower room, and I find that the West Wing room was a bit more appealing. While the room was big, and there was a fridge...I wasn't that impressed. True the room is probably average across the board...TV...Big Bed (Bed was nice) Bedside tables sloped so that if you put anything on the edge, it would slip off. The remote for the TV was half dead. The fact that there was a separate shower and tub w/shower was nice so that 2 people can take a shower at the same time. Was pissed that my room was not made on the 2nd day and was pissed that my lock got reset on the 2nd day. (The problem was resolved fairly quickly) MGM is a HUGE place. And if your in the tower...BE PREPARED TO WALK...overall my stay was about a 3 stars out of 5...But my wife who has a taste for Bellagio and Wynn would rate her stay as a big fat 1 star. But since this is me, I say its an okay place to stay...oh and the lazy river is awesome...and so is the scenery *wink*. And I never win there, but it's a great place to drink and Studio 54 is great for anyone...talk about HARD drinks...and if you are a guy...expect to pay a cover.

0 Stars TJ November 07, 2007

We arrived late Friday night (11/2/07) and stayed 4 nights at the MGM in the West Wing. Tried the $20 trick (do a search on the internet if you’re unfamiliar) and got the room at the standard room price. I’ve read reviews by other people who say the West Wing is not worth the price as the rooms are smaller. I have not been into a standard room, but the West Wing room was fine for 2 people, and was very nice and clean. The bathroom provides little privacy. The toilet and shower are only guarder with translucent glass. The vanity area is out in the open. Unless you are by yourself or with your significant other, this could be very awkward.

One key thing about the West Wing was the West Wing bar. There are no signs advertising this fact, but there is an exit to the outside in that bar. That means if you are staying in the West Wing you can get from your room to the strip in less than 5 minutes. I know other people in the hotel need to budget 20 minutes to get to the strip, so this alone made the West Wing perfect for us. Beyond that, right outside the door of the West Wing bar is a convenience store/tourist junky gift shop. You can get beer/wine/snacks etc. there for significantly less than the same items inside the hotel. You also have easy access to the NYNY walkway and the poker room & sportsbook. However, you are as far away as possible from the pool. Though from what I could tell only the Signature tower was actually near the pool itself.

There is also a monorail stop at the MGM. I would recommend the monorail to anyone who is planning on doing exploring up and down the strip.

During our stay we went to many of the other hotels on and off the strip. Overall I was glad with our choice at MGM. Places like Bellagio, Wynn, etc. are very beautiful. But, even if I was able to get a room there at a price I could afford, I don’t think I’d want to stay there. Table games and restaurants were prohibitively expensive at these places in my opinion. MGM is right in the “sweet spot”. The hotel/casino is nice and clean and lots of restaurant options at all price levels. $10 blackjack/roulette/and craps tables were readily available at all but the most peak times.

I would definitely recommend the MGM to anyone who wants a mid-level option and stay at the strip. It is head and shoulders better than low price options, and offers a comfortable environment for those who can’t pay outrageous prices at places like Bellagio etc.

0 Stars Andrew August 26, 2007

Pretty nice basic rooms. Maybe it's just me, but this seems to be the most liberal of the higher-end hotels with room offers - I get seemingly endless deals for $79/weekend night all the time.

The views tend to be marginal, but usually better than many other hotels where you're staring at air conditioning units on a roof. The green hue out the windows is nice, as are the furnishings. Bathrooms are decent but not as nice as some of the others.

0 Stars sparky August 20, 2007

I stayed across the street for 3 nights and had gotten some coupons from the Players Club for gaming chips and meals. I called MGM and asked if I could use them while staying @ another MGM property. She said no, had to be a guest and looked into the offer. It came with a free night! Nowhere on my documentation did it say that. I went ahead and booked it, checked in early @ noon and they had a room. Nice queen room with view of Trop, Ex, Luxor & Mandalay. I had 3 nieces with me and it was nice for them to see different hotels. Didn't play much here, too big, but really enjoyed our room.

0 Stars Gil Boatman August 18, 2007

There are 5 fablous pools. Some are adult only. It is a very relaxing atmosphere in the pool area.

Everyone should stay here at least once.

Beautiful view, cutting edge technologies in room(plasma TV that automatically rose out of the desk, iPod players for alarm clocks, etc.)great staff and in a great area right on the strip. i really never had to leave the hotel. Pool was cool that included a lazy river. best hotel ever!!!!

I probably won't stay here again. No hot water in the shower the last two days we were there (but the hot water worked in the sinks.) Battery missing from the remote. Light bulbs burned out in one of the lamps. The night stand and one of the tables were so badly chipped, banged up, and stained they probably wouldn't have been fit to sell in a yard sale. Room service trays with remains of half-eaten food were left in the hallways for at least three days before they were picked up. The hallways smelled bad from the rotting food. The front desk was nice, seemed concerned and apologized, all three times I reported the problem, but the front desk didn't seem to be empowered to solve the problem. Never heard from anyone in management about it, either. I emailed the hotel after I got back home but never heard from them. Poor, disappointing experience.

Even though the new remodeled rooms are wonderful, MGM lacked in their service department. It took us almost 1 hour to check in with an unexperienced customer service person who had no idea what she was doing. Took us just as long to check out even though we were in a hurryto leave for the plain

0 Stars RateVegas.com User October 02, 2005

There are so many different rooms available to the regular person, that you can get a really nice room if you are willing to pay for it or if you are lucky. I got an email offer for a free upgrade from a standard room to a Bungalo Suite. When the Bungalo room filled before I got there, they bumped me up to a Celebrity Spa Suite. It was great. It started my current trend of staying in nicer rooms instead of the standard style room wherever I stay.
It is a big place, but it was nice to have so many things available under one roof.

A fun hotel tp stay at. Rooms are very nice, roomy and well appointed. Bathroom is above average in size; has a combination shower and tub. The pool area is the best in Vegas because of the river walk. It is the best pool feature in town. Others have river walks, but none compare in size to the MGM's. Just a blast to walk/swim around. Large number of palm trees and islands to set up a day camp at the pool. Biggest negative about the MGM is the amount of walking that has to be done to get anywhere. From the elevator to the pool area is a hike....don't forget anything at the room!!

0 Stars vegasfromMN June 26, 2004

In LV 6-18 to 6-24-04. Spent 3 days (6-15 to 6-17) at Edgewater in Laughlin with CA friends, having fun on river with jet ski's, then over to LV for 3 days at Flamingo followed by 3 days at MGM (after our friends left to return home). We stayed in LV 2 years ago at Flamingo where then 18 and 14 year old daughters fell in love with pool complex. We don't gamble a lot, spending mornings at pool, then afternoon napping or sightseeing before heading out to dinner and shows. Spent 3 days at Flamingo, as usual, our stay was nice. Had early dinner at Margaritaville on 6-18 before heading to HOB for Jason Mraz concert. Location and atmosphere are classic JB, food was pretty decent, place was somewhat louder than I expected, hard to have conversation. If you are traveling with teens who want to tan and hang out at pool, I'd recommend Flamingo but having now stayed at MGM for first time this trip, I'd say first option should be to stay at MGM. We upgraded from Grand Room to Bungalow Suite at arrival for added $35 per night. Room was larger, with couch, etc....and very close to elevator but view was terrible and bathroom, though it had two showers, had several missing tiles and was in need of repair.. If had to do over again, probably would not accept upgrade offer unless free. Other than that, our trip was fanastic. The pool was a bit of a walk but not as bad as I'd been led to believe on this site. We rented a cabana for 2 days mid-week, if you can afford the $150, do it, ask for cabana # 9 for good location near restrooms and refreshments and a really great and attentive cabana staff. Lazy River is right there in front of you, no real need to visit other pools, just grab a drink and float around on inner tube. We did make small profit ($100) on the little gambling we did here. Found staff, including dealers, to be friendly. While Flamingo is also wonderful, MGM is now first choice of my family.

This is my favorite place to stay in Las Vegas. The service is great, and everything is within reach here. You have a huge pool, tons of shops and restaurants, and a huge casino! And it has a great location! The only down side is the loooong walk from your room to the pool!

0 Stars sweetie51759 March 06, 2004

We were in room 15226. We had a view of San Remo, the Tropicana, Mandalay Bay, and the airport. We really enjoyed this view and would ask for this specific room again. We had a king bed with the couch. I couldn't give the room a 10 because the bed was a little hard. Housekeeping was great, especially iolene. The buffet was good, but I'd have to say that the Tropical Rainforest was my favorite. If you just want dessert, go to the Rainforest for the Volcano. It's brownies, ice cream, hot fudge, whip cream, and more with a sparkler on top. mmmmmm. We got our picture taken with 5 month old lion cub, Sasha. If I go back to Las Vegas I'll either stay at the MGM or the Luxor. The only negative about the MGM was they only serve coke. lol I just went to New York and got a supply.

I like to stay here when the room rates are reasonable. The room is about avereage, maybe a little bigger than average, but not much. The beds were pretty comfortable. The service was great. Anytime i asked for something it was delivered promptly. The hotel is very clean especially in such a high traffic area. I would stay here again and recommend it.

0 Stars Wired February 13, 2004

I didn't have any kind of great expectations from this hotel when I was told by the company that we were going to be staying here. We stayed at a rate of $109 a night (including a Saturday night stay), and it included a $25 room and beverage credit (good for any restaurant/bar in the hotel), as well as a 2 person spa facility pass and 2 free entries into Studio 54. I decided to tip the woman at the front desk during check-in as I feared I may be booked in seemingly dreaded Emerald Tower, this resulted in my receiving a room facing the strip, on a non-smoking floor, with a king bed in the grand tower. Which is exactly what I asked for. Mind you the walk was a bit much from the elevator but it was welcome. However unsure if my tip really bought me anything, when the other 6 who also booked a tthe same time, same account, same duration all had rooms on smoking floors, with parking lot views and double-queens, I realized my tipping had indeed paid off. The room is well appointed, the bathroom is nice and large, the only disappointment really being the very low shower head and the fact the shower and bath are combined. The marble floor, while nice to look at, was quite cold in the mornings to deal with, so it was a bit of a trade off. The color palette used is nice, though the black and white photos from movies from the 40's and 50's seemed out of place in the room even though that sort of thing should be expected in the "MGM" hotel. Maid service was good and they replenished all the toiletries EXCEPT the oatmeal bar of soap from the shower when I decided one day I was going to take it home. Every other piece with only a couple drops out of, were replaced. Odd. This is a large casino, and when I walked through it on my first Visit to vegas, I thought it was unbearable, though having just spent several days there, it really isn't too bad even in the worst (dress) shoes. The blackjack dealers (2) were both great. $5 available in the mornings, and Stand on all 17's in the middle of the table games with a number of 6:5 single deck games. When I decided to try my luck at Craps the boss, bet setters and raker were excellent entertainment. I've never had so much fun loosing money in my life. They really made what started off as a pretty sparse table a great place to be. Shame my luck wasn't any good with the game. The video poker wasn't full pay but close. I wasn't keen on gambling there (due to the meidocre odds) but when I did, it was fun and at the end fo the trip I had broken even, while another in our group was up $400 on just slots. Fun time, I would be glad to stay there again if the decision was made for me, if I had to decide, I would, of course, try to experience another hotel but will have nothing but great things to tell anyone who is planning on their stay there. Pleasantly surprised.

We had a great experience in June at the MGM Grand, we stayed at the Grand Tower and is far more better then the Emrald Tower. MGM Grand treated us with a lot of respect and honored every request we could possibly have. It was a long walk to the pool, we were on the 23rd floor, and it was a walk to the pool or the food court. Very nice place, very friendly staff, and it really is the City of Entertainment, it is a city of its own. We really had a great view of the Monte Carlo across from us, Rio, Palms and down the strip to Caesars Palace. You felt like you were on top of the world with the massive windows they have in your room. The room was very well decorated and the bathrooms were very nice. It was worth the 20.00 upgrade a night we had from the Emrald Tower to the Grand Tower. This place, is luxury.

The "Hollywood Suites" are spectacular! Huge, well-furnished rooms, with a very classy feel. The Hollywood Suites are at the end of each Grad Tower hallway (read: long walk from the elevator!), but therefore have a TON of windows, both in the bedroom and in the huge living room. The only downside: the tub in the bathroom is pretty small, although there is also a shower stall, so I can't complain too much! My biggest complaint was that all but one of the 5 pools closed at 5pm! FIVE! True, I was there the weekend AFTER Labor Day, but it's still hot! But I will definately be at the MGM Grand again.

Stayed at MGM (5th time)10/5-8/02. Took our son for his 21st bday and 1st time to LV. We had the smallest room we've ever had at MGM (asked for upgrade, but none were available). The bathroom had 1 sink, and with 3 people that's not enough! The hotel is undergoing major renovations to the Grand Tower elevators and casino floor. A huge inconvenience, in that everyone has to get on the elevators at the same bank (whereas in the past there were 2-3 different banks) and then get off at floors 2, 3 or 4 in order to get on one that would take them to their floor. What a hassle and what a waste of valuable time! Our favorite bar, the Betty Boop, was closed and walled-off for remodeling. We did find our favorite bartender, Al, late one night at one of the other bars in the casino and he told us that the Boop would be back in operation in November and the elevators should be back to normal in early December. We are due to go back in February '03. If the elevator problems are not fixed (surely they will be!), if the Boop has changed too much and if we don't get an upgrade to some kind of suite, we may have to consider staying elsewhere on our next trip. To be fair, we did get our Friday night comped from our Player's Club points and I did hit a Royal Flush at the Show Bar. AND our son was in awe of everything and had a FABULOUS time at Studio 54 on Saturday night. So, in all a good trip. We'll give her another chance.

I enjoyed everything about the hotel especially the service. Everyone was extremely helpful and friendly. There was so much activity in the hotel around the clock and there was never a dull moment. Even the night club, Studio 54 was energetic and exciting!
I've been to a variety of hotels and was thoroughly surprised at how well the hotel is maintained. The place is clean, hospitable and the atmosphere is very much alive!!!
I'd recommend the MGM Grand as a first class place to stay and play!

Always ask for a room 5-10 away from the elevators & something facing the strip. Rooms are very nice. How much time are you in your room ? Great place.

After taking a Cab from the hotel reception to my room, I found that It was pleasent enough (Emerald Tower Room) nothing special, But you pay for what you get, and it was worth the ammount I paid.
The hotel is the centre of Vegas, It is well worth a visit.

The MGM is the only place we stay when we visit Vegas. We have never been disappointed with our rooms. We have stayed in a spa suite (We loved that room, especially the bathroom), a Grand Tower room and an Emerald Tower room. If you do reserve an Emerald Tower room, try to get upgraded to the Grand Tower.

This was our tenth visit to the MGM GRAND and as before it was everything exspected. The staff were friendly, well informed, and always ready to make our stay a pleasant one. We were there during the world trade center disaster and they were most understanding, very patriotic and ready to help in anyway. We will be returning again soon.

It is a ok hotel. The worst feature is that it takes 30 minutes to go from the room to the parking lot and vice-versa.

This is the best place to stay if you have kids. My kids loved the pool! The housekeeping people were so nice, they even offered to bring an air cleaner when they heard my son had asthma. I was floored! When we go back we are going to MGM Grand again, this time we are getting a suite. Overall, this is the friendliest of the Vegas strip.

A wonderful place to be for anyone staying 4 nights or more.
In 9 days and 8 nights, We had no negative experirences. Staff was always friendly and at times went out of there way. Did not have to spend money to be treated like royalty.
Getting around takes getting used to. Would not be idea for someone staying 2 or 3 nights. If you are a first timer, It's not enough time to experience what you are paying for.

Everything at MGM is huge. Too HUGE. It is a long walk from the parking lot to the rooms. You really have to think twice about leaving MGM to go out since it's a 20 - 30 min walk to the car. Next time I plan to stay at a medium size place.

Once you get used to the size of the place, the MGM is a good place to stay. Its location is great and they comp slots players decently.

I had a great stay at the MGM. It's a big place but they took good care of us. I would go back... The pool is crowded.

To be honest I wasn't really looking forward to my stay here because the hotel is so big. I was pleasently surprised that the newly renovated rooms were quite nice. Bathroom was an okay size but the tub was small.
