It's really a novel idea that could be quite lucrative. I personally know several people that do everything in Vegas besides gamble be it for moral reasons, intimidation, or whatnot. I'm willing to bet a couple hundred bucks is enough to get them to taste what they've been missing and start spending real money.

Still, I'd imagine we'll see hotel loyalty programs (charge $5k to your room and get the last night comped, for example) in combination with casino loyalty long before the comp tides are totally reversed.

On the other hand, I wonder if there's a potential business model in giving away free rooms. Take an old hotel like Riviera. Update the rooms so they are nice but not overdo it expense-wise. Put money into building a nightclub, upscale spa, fine dining, etc. and charge a lot for that stuff. Sort of the easyJet model.
